I chose to come on a placement abroad to widen my cultural knowledge and appreciation. I chose to organise this through Work the World, as they seemed very organised and enthusiastic! The assistance before the trip was great and the UK office were in continuous communication with me to make sure I felt everything was perfect.

I arrived late on the Sunday night so I didn’t really get to meet other students straight away, but the Assistant Program Manager stayed and gave me a warm greeting and orientation to the house.

IT REALLY OPENED UP MY EYES TO THE WORLD AND MADE ME APPRECIATE THEIR CULTURE AND ALSO MY OWN HOME"

The Work the World (WTW) house is amazing – it really is a home away from home. It is like being on a holiday and is very comfortable. The staff are great too – they have really made me feel welcome.  I must give a special mention to the caterer – his food is amazing – cultural but very homely. He really goes to a lot of effort and I have enjoyed every meal – thank you.

My placement was an amazing experience. It really opened up my eyes to the world and made me appreciate their culture and also my own home. This has really influenced the nurse I want to become.

I spent my first week in outpatients. It was a good way of introducing me to the hospital as it wasn’t too fast paced and the nurses had time to explain things. The second week I spent two days in obstetrics, which was amazing – seeing multiple births and C-sections. My last two days were in the paeds ward where we went around and got to know the very cute patients.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this experience amazing. It has made a great impact on my life.
