The Work the World House
A big part of your experience in Vietnam is living in the Work the World house — your home from home. You'll live with healthcare studentsand graduates from all kinds of disciplines around the world, so the houses have a social vibe.
Our house in Hue is an oasis of calm, offering a break from the excitement of the city. The garden is beautiful, with a stream, an ancient wishing well, and a swimming pool to cool off in.
You’ll find the house in central Hue — it’s within walking distance of the Imperial City.
If you cross a bridge over the Perfume River, you’ll find some of the Hue’s best bars, markets, temples, and street food vendors.

Support in the Hospital
Before your clinical placement begins, our team in Hue will take you to visit your placement hospital. The informal tour will help you get a feel for your new environment. You’ll meet your supervisors and other key department staff while you’re there.
You’ll see the in-country team in the hospital throughout your placement. They’ll come and visit you on the wards, making sure everything is running smoothly.
We assign and inform your supervisors well before your placement starts. Aim to build a relationship with them and you’ll see what the local healthcare system is like through the eyes of a local practitioner.

Placements in Hue
VILLAGE HEALTHCARE WEEK
At the end of your city-based placement, if you undertake this additional week in a rural setting, you’ll see a different side of healthcare in Vietnam. Alongside your official Work the World guide and interpreter, you’ll spend mornings in the local clinic, learning how local staff employ resourcefulness to get around a lack of equipment. We fill your afternoons with cultural activities, fully immersing you in the rural way of life. You’ll learn local traditions through participation, cook regional specialties, and much more.
