Pre-departure preparation that makes you feel ready
Pre-departure preparation matters more than you might realise. A reputable provider will brief you on the clinical environment you're entering — the disease profiles you're likely to encounter, available resources, the cultural context of patient care, and the expectations of your placement hospital. Without this, students frequently arrive unprepared and spend the first week simply trying to orient themselves.
Exclusive, catered accommodation
You'll live in private accommodation while you're away with us — spacious, catered houses where only you, your Work the World housemates, and our staff have access. This is completely different from the homestay-style accommodation offered by other providers.
Our locally hired house teams provide friendly, experienced 24/7 support. A dedicated catering team serves breakfast and dinner daily, covering everything from local specialities to familiar favourites, while fully accommodating any dietary requirements you might have. You can also look forward to weekly BBQ nights on the house grounds, whichever destination you choose.
And, while you’re overseas with us, there are no curfews. You can come and go from the Work the World house as you please.
Travel solo or with friends, and whenever suits you
Around half the people who travel with us book solo, and all our houses have a welcoming, social atmosphere. We'll connect you with your housemates well before your trip. Prefer to travel with friends? Let us know, and we'll arrange for you to stay — and where possible, be placed — in the same hospital.
Unlike other providers, we don't restrict placements to fixed date blocks. Our programmes run year-round, and you can book as many weeks as you like.

Experienced in-country support teams
On-the-ground support is non-negotiable. Our local Programme Managers know why you're there, where you're supposed to be, and can act if something goes wrong — medically, personally, or logistically. You'll have 24/7 support from locally hired teams with strong relationships across hospital staff, right up to hospital directors.
The hospitals, clinics, and community health settings you're placed in have established relationships with us and know exactly what supervision entails. A clinical supervisor who knows you're coming and understands your level is categorically different from a busy consultant who finds a student on their ward without warning.
Long-standing hospital partnerships
Our long-standing partnerships with hospitals and clinics are the foundation of your clinical experience — and the basis of our excellent reputation. These relationships are mutually beneficial; we make regular financial contributions to all our partners and donate clinical equipment where students help us identify a need. Our in-country teams maintain strong face-to-face relationships with hospital staff at every level and will check in on you throughout your hospital placement.
