Our Work the World house in Lusaka is your home from home while you’re undertaking your clinical placement in Zambia.
The house is bright and spacious, and there are loads of areas for you and your housemates to chill out after a day on your clinical placement. The Lusaka house is in a fantastic position — you can get into the city centre in no time at all.
There’s a significant expat population in Lusaka too, so there’s a huge range of lively bars and restaurants to choose from.
In-Country Team
Management team: Based in the house, they oversee your entire clinical placement — 24/7 — from the moment you land to the moment you leaveCatering team: Cook a variety of both local cuisine and familiar home comforts, accommodating all dietary requirementsHousekeeper: Keeps the house clean and tidy from top to bottom, making sure you're comfortableLanguage teacher: Visits the house twice-per-week. Support in the Hospital
Prior to your first day of placement, you’ll visit the hospital with our team in Lusaka. They’ll show you how to find your way around and introduce you to your supervisors and other department staff as you go. The Lusaka team are often in the hospital and they’ll come to visit you wherever you’re based. This is just to make sure everything is running smoothly.
Senior members of the hospital staff will supervise you throughout your clinical placement. Provided you make the effort with them, your supervisors are the key to gaining unique insight that only a local professional can offer.
