Accommodation Overview

On one of our placements your students will live in a Work the World house with all the comforts of home.

Our private houses act as your students' home from home while they're with us overseas. The houses are accessible only to Work the World students and our staff team.

Each house has spacious single-sex bedrooms, bathrooms, lounges with comfy furniture, dining rooms, and a garden.

"The Work the World house was impressive. There were plenty of communal spaces, and each room had a private bathroom. Our meals were made for us by the lovely staff and we had a selection of foods for breakfast and a mix of both traditional Filipino and Western food for dinner. It was the best!"Ella Thompson, University of Technology Sydney

WHO else will be in the house?

Your students will live with fellow students studying different healthcare disciplines all over the world. Living closely with students studying such a diversity of disciplines will help your students understand the people behind the skill sets.

They will all become well-acquainted with one another. They will travel to placement together, socialise together in the evenings, and organise weekend trips together. This is true whether they're travelling alone or as part of a group.

These living arrangements help extend the clinical learning beyond the hospital. Anecdotes, comparisons, and collaborative discussions with housemates about global health will be invaluable to students’ development.

Students may also find they need some alone time, and the houses are large enough that it’s easy for them to find space to decompress.

ARE MEALS INCLUDED?

Breakfast and dinner are freshly prepared by our in-house catering teams. The teams are experienced and will prepare local delicacies and more familiar western-style dishes.

Lunch is either available at the house (depending on the student's placement schedule) or they can prepare something for themselves to take in — the cupboards and fridges are kept well stocked.

If students have food sensitivities, the catering team will accommodate their dietary requirements.

Your students will also enjoy the weekly BBQ night, hosted in the grounds of the house.

IN-COUNTRY SUPPORT

Experienced, locally hired in-country teams run our houses. Students will become most familiar with their in-country management team. Based in an office within the house, they go above and beyond to make sure your students are taken care of.

We have a local language teacher come to the house twice weekly to give lessons to the students. We also have 24-hour security teams in place for peace of mind.

"Work the World provide great accommodation and facilities. All the food was freshly made and delicious. The in-country staff were friendly and keen to help us at all hours of the day or night. The team provided us with plenty of support and would happily facilitate our needs and placement requirements."Megan Smith, Canterbury Christchurch University
